There’s nothing as exquisitely pleasing to the senses as walking into a room that delights your senses. If you’ve ever been fortunate enough to receive a massage, or at least walk by the work space of a professional masseur or masseuse, you’ll get a whiff of some of the most enticing scents your nose will ever encounter. Those who give massages earn a living by putting their clients in a relaxed mood. If you ask what they spray into the air just before their clients arrive, most of these professionals will tell you they use all natural oils and sprays that complement their hands-on healing. These scents are part of a mind-body health science, known as aromatherapy.
Natural Aromatherapy - Connect With Your Chemistry
Aromatherapy has been around for ages to not only enhance the aroma in your home, but also to affect your mood. It’s been said that the nose can assess and determine that one is “home”, within seconds, while the eyes need a few minutes to do so.
When you spray 100% pure botanical extracts into the air, they evoke more of a biochemical response than those that use artificial ingredients, as the natural ingredients are what your body innately reacts to. In addition, no harmful toxic chemicals are released into the air.
Now, which natural scents and sprays do what?
Lift Your Mood: To energize, naturally, go for Citrus Pine, or other lemony/orangey scent. It balances and uplifts your mood. This formula has balancing effects. It also naturally regenerates a sluggish mood. Lemony/orangey scents are great for inducing clarity, too. Spray some in the room when you’re studying, or paying the bills - whenever you need to be especially alert!
Reduce Stress: Who among us doesn’t need to relieve stress once in a while? Spraying a formula with rose or ylang ylang into your environment will act as a natural sedative, and antidepressant. It also has aphrodisiac qualities. Rose or ylang ylang also work as an excellent antiseptic … without the mediciney smells of common topical antiseptics.
Induce Calm: If you need to soothe high-strung nerves, Lavender will increase the release of serotonin (a neurotransmitter compound found to play an important role in mood, sleep, sexuality and appetite), evoking a sense of calm. It is for this reason that Lavender is recommended for sleep disorders. Spray some on your pillow before dropping off to sleep and chances are you’ll induce a deeper, sounder sleep.
Stop a Sad Mood: Turning around a negative mood without chemicals is easy! Have you ever smelled a scent that made you ask: “What is that smell?” That scent may trigger a favorite memory, or simply remind you of something delightful. Either way, you can’t remain sad when you’re recalling something positive. Try it! Spray a whiff of anything with vanilla in it, if you’re fond of that spice. It’s impossible to be in a bad mood after more than a few seconds!
Your Own Experiences Important to Consider
Incidentally, your own experiences, rich with sad and glad memories, play an important part in which Aromatherapy scents invigorate or depress you. You may associate lilac with something from your past; in this case, you wouldn’t want to recall this memory. To someone else, however, lilac may induce a sense of well-being. Learn which scents trigger positive memories, and incorporate those into your fragrance library!
It’s true! It’s easy to improve the quality of your life with exquisitely smelling flowers and plant-based scents. All you need to do is spray a natural, fabulous-smelling formula into the air! Now, watch your smile come back, slowly, but surely, to your face!
